Dhaka dances to rain beats

Dhakaites soaked in rain again for a good half-hour late Friday night. Sylhet, Rangpur and some other parts also had welcome shower after scorching hot days worsened by power cuts countrywide. Rains, accompanied by gusty winds and frequent lightning, set in at 11:20pm and continued for some 15 minutes, prompting many to get drenched by rainwater in joy, bdnews24.com correspondent Tayabur Rahman said. Jahid Hossain, a senior official at Meteorology Department, could not immediately tell bdnews24.com how many millimetres of rainfall the capital had but added that it will cool weather a bit.
It may rain in Jessore, Kushtia, Noakhali, Comilla and Rajshahi as well, Hossain said. Rain or thunder shower accompanied by gusty or squally wind is likely to occur in one or two places over there, he added.
It rained all day in Rangpur, bdnews24.com correspondent in Rangpur and 18 mm rainfall was recorded there until 6pm.
It began raining with wind blasts in Sylhet at 4pm and continued through midnight. Weatherman Sadekul Alam said 31mm rainfall was recorded in the northeastern city until 6pm.
