Govt sincere to fulfil demands of common people

Minster for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Barrister Shafique Ahmed on Saturday said the government is sincerely working to meet all fundamental demands including medicare and education for women and children. It would be possible to attain the goal of ensuring development of the deprived women and children if private sector participation could be increased along with the initiatives of the government, said the law minister adding that the initiatives also need sincere cooperation by the affluent section of people, businessmen and voluntary organizations”. The law minister was speaking as the chief guest at a function of lottery draw, organized by the Child Health Foundation at the Jatiya Press Club.

Pro-Vc of Bangabandu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Professor Dr M Sahidullah, general secretary of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh Prof. Mahfuza Khanam also spoke among others.

National professor and President of Child Health Foundation of Bangladesh Dr M R Khan was in the chair.

The medical treatment can cure a child for a time being, but arrangement of games would help children in ensuring their sound physical and mental health, Shafique said adding that haphazard construction of multi-storied apartments buildings are reducing the playgrounds in the cities.

Replying to a question on demand of constitution of a parliamentary committee to probe into BDR massacre, the law minister said, “the demand is not justified and we have full confidence on the probe done by the CID.
