Socially compliant business environment should be established: Zafar Osman

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) and German Technical Co-operation (GTZ) jointly organized a seminar on “CSR- a Profitable Way of Doing Business Ethically” at DCCI on May 30. Past President of DCCI Aftabul Islam was present as Chief Guest while DCCI President Zafar Osman presided over. Speaking at the seminar Zafar Osman said that CSR strategy should be developed which would help alleviating business risk and to minimize social dispute. He laid importance on establishing a socially-compliant business environment in Bangladesh.

Chief Guest of the seminar Aftabul Islam said that the term CSR is actually derived from that social responsibility. CSR plays a vital role in export of our produced goods to outside world, he said. If we could start CSR in our business organizations, our products would get acceptability in international business world and export would be increased, he added.

Programme Coordinator of GTZ-progress Dr. Dietrich Stotz said that CSR was very important for doing business now a days. He opined that CSR advises the businessmen to profit abiding by the ethics of business. GTZ works to assist business, train entrepreneurs as well as workers, develop skills, he added.

DCCI Past President M. A. Momen, Vice President Md. Sirajuddin Malik, Director M A Baten, Major Md. Yead Ali Fakir (Retd.), Niaz Rahim, Kh. Shahidul Islam, Advocate Abdul Aziz Sarker, Al-Haj Md. Nasiruddin Khan, M. Anwarul Haque, Nasir Hossain were also present among others in the seminar.
