46 more ‘political harassment’ cases to be withdrawn

The government today decided to withdraw 46 more cases filed against the leaders of ruling Awami League (AL) for ‘political harassment’, State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam said.

 

Of the 46 cases, 18 are filed under Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Act and the rest under criminal cases, the minister told reporters after a meeting at the home ministry.

 

The cases were filed against Sajeda Chowdhury, Motia Chowdhury, Obaidul Quader, parliamentary standing committee chairman Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Deputy Speaker Shawkat Ali, Jahangir Kabir Nanok, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Awami League central leader Abu Sayeed, AL presidium members Kazi Jafarullah, ruling party chief whip Mirza Azam, Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Selim, Awami League (AL) leader Mohammad Nasim, Chittagong Mayor Mohiuddin Chowdhury, BCL president Mahmud Hasan Ripon and Jubo Mohila League activists.
