DU Day to be observed on July 1

The Dhaka University (DU) Day-2009 will be observed on the campus on July 1 in a befitting manner, reports UNB.The main theme of this year’s day is ‘Democratisation in Higher Education’, said a DU press release.

To mark the day, the university authorities have chalked out a series of daylong programmes, including hoisting flags of the varsity and halls, cutting cake and taking out procession, exhibition on the bright history and tradition of the DU (1921-2009) and discussion meeting at the Teachers and Students Centre (TSC).

DU VC AAMS Arefin Siddique will attend the meeting as the chief guest with university treasurer Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman in the chair. Former VCs, Pro-VCs and Emeritus Professors are likely to attend the meeting.

Besides, debate competition, science related programmes, football, cricket and volleyball exhibition matches and blood donation programmes will be held on the occasion.

Classes and exams will not be held on July 1 due to the celebration of the DU Day, the release added.
