Govt to introduce uniform primary edn system: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told the House Monday that the government is working to introduce a uniform education system at primary level, reports BSS.
Replying to separate questions raised by treasury bench members Junaid Ahmed Palak and Gias Uddin Ahmed, he said there are 10 categories of schools at primary level.
The schools are, he said, government primary schools,
registered non-government primary schools, non-registered non-government primary schools, experimental schools, community schools, kindergartens, NGO-run schools, ebtedayee madrasahs, ebtedayee madrasahs adjacent to high madrasahs and primary schools adjacent to high schools under same management.
Responding to a separate question from ruling party lawmaker Asma Begum Jhumu, the education minister said the government would not allow any irregularities and corruption at public or private universities.
He said the government has already launched investigation into the irregularities and corruption at public universities that took place during the rule of the past four-party alliance government.
Answering to a question raised by Jatiya Party lawmaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, State Minister for Science, Information and Communication Technology Minister said Yeafesh Osman said the government is considering distribution of computers to educational institutions through parliament members.
The state minister also said the government is also contemplating setting up IT villages in five divisions side by side with high-tech park at Kaliakoir for the expansion of ICT sector in the country.
