President for creating enthusiasm among varsity students for acquiring knowledge

President Zillur Rahman Wednesday urged university authorities to take proper steps for creating enthusiasm among their students for acquiring knowledge and also preparing the ground for their constructive work on current affairs, reports UNB.
“Universities are the centre-points of exercising free thoughts,” he said while talking to a 12-member delegation from Comilla University, led by Vice-chancellor Professor Dr AHM Zehadul Karim at Bangabhaban in the city.
Describing the universities as the cradles of researches, Zillur Rahman said the university students would have to be made library-oriented to enlarge their depth of knowledge. “There (universities) remains the opportunities for learning and practising higher knowledge for brilliant students.”
During the meeting, he said students of the country should be built up as per international standards in the context of present competitive world so they could build up their career in keeping with pace of the advanced world.
“More research programmes need to be enhanced at university level so that the students can deeply concentrate on creative works,” he told the delegation members.
Emphasising the need for information technology, the President said more IT-related articles should be included in the curriculum from primary to higher education level with due importance with a view to building the country based on the roadmap of ‘Digital Bangladesh’.
“We need to take measures from now on to implement Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-declared Digital Bangladesh by 2021,” he said.
