Bangladesh all-out in 186
October 27, 2009
Tigers finally managed to regain some respect from the tourists as the host finished their innings making 186 for all 10 wickets in 46.5 overs in the first match of the five-match Grameenphone one-day series against Zimbabwe at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
The Africans struck almost immediately after winning the toss in the match sending back Junaed Siddique before opening his account in the second over.
Shortly afterwards Bangladesh lost Tamim Iqbal with the score on five.
Mohammad Ashraful got himself out trying a big booming drive through the off side and the ball only found wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu’s safe hand in the 15th over.
Shortly after this, the actual disaster was on the roll as three back-to-back wickets were fallen in two successive overs, which actually devastated Bangladesh middle order.
First, Raqibul Hasan got himself run out in a suicidal manner in the 19th over and skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah got out cheaply, trying to play tricky shots in the 20th over.
The score was 58 for six then.
Naeem Islam got out of the bowling of Ray Price leaving the score 115 in the 35th over.
Next batsman, Abdur Razzak also departed very quickly making just 3, the score was 121 for 7 then.
After the departure of Razzak, the most exciting part of the Bangladesh innings actually began, thanks to the late order duo Mushfiqur Rahim and Dolar Mahmud as they put up a partnership of 54 runs to bring the score to at 178.
Both got out in the 47th over as the innings wrapped up immediately. Before departing, Mushfiqur made 57 and Dolar made 41 with three huge maximums.
Elton Chigumbura was the most successful among the Zimbabwean bowlers by picking up all three top order batsmen. Chamu Chibhabha and Kyle Jarvis took two wickets each and Ray Price and Graeme Cremer both got one.
