Experts for timely evaluation of donor-funded edn projects

October 1, 2009

Technical education experts at a programme Tuesday stressed the need for evaluating and monitoring the government and donor funds before implementing any education projects to ensure the best use of the funds, reports UNB.

The experts said many projects are being taken for the development of education sector, particularly for technical education, with donors’ assistance in the country. But in most cases, targeted people could not avail of the benefits of the projects for lack of proper evaluation or monitoring.

They gave the opinion at the inaugural ceremony of a 10-day ‘CPSC-Bangladesh, In-Country Programme on Monitoring and Evaluation of TVET Programme.’

Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC), Manila based inter-governmental organisation for human resource development in Asia and the Pacific Region, organised the programme at Tejgaon in the city.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Director General of Technical Education Directorate Prof Nitai Chandra Sutradhar and CPSC Director General Prof Shyamal Majumdar, among others, spoke at the function.

Fifty principals of technical-vocational schools and polytechnic institutes and senior government officials have attended the Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) programme.
