BB launches upazila loan in 2010 to generate jobs

Bangladesh Bank is going to introduce a loan scheme titled ‘one banking product in each upazila’ across the country in an effort to generate work opportunities for village people.
The bank would implement the programme under a five-year strategy plan from 2010 to 2014, BB Deputy Governor Murshid Kuli Khan said at a press conference on Sunday.
He said the central bank took up the programme to generate work opportunities for the people living in rural areas besides their existing opportunities.
Bangladesh Bank will evaluate the plan every year, he said.
