December 23, 2009

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday reiterated her government’s determination to continue the crackdown on corrupts, claiming that no corruption allegations were raised against any of her cabinet members since the government took office in the last year.

“We will complete the first one year of taking the charges of office after a few days. I can say, which you will also admit, that in the last one year nobody has able to bring corruption charges against any minister or the government,” the prime minister said.

The premier was addressing the graduation and certificate award ceremony of the National Defence Course-2009 at the National Defence College (NDC) in the capital’s Mirpur area.

Hasina said the trial of war crime would start soon. She also assured that the culprits responsible for BDR carnage would be brought to justice.

A total of 44 members from Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force and Civil Service and 20 members from the armed forces of 11 countries have successfully completed the National Defence Course-2009.

Cabinet ministers, chiefs of the three services, defence attaches and high civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
