Relatives meet killers at jail gate

Relatives met five convicted killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Wednesday afternoon, few hours after the Appellate Division rejected their review petitions.
Sources at Dhaka Central Jail said as many as 50 people came to pay a visit to the five convicts –Syed Farooq Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Bazlul Huda and AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed.
The relatives and friends in small groups met with the convicts at the jail gate amid tight security measures.
Earlier, the Appellate Division had dismissed the petitions filed by the five convicts seeking to review the verdict against them.
Following the court ruling, the ministry of law had an emergency meeting on their execution in the afternoon.
After the meeting, Law Minister Shafique Ahmed said the five convicts would be executed any day before January 31.
