SC hears review pleas for second day

The Supreme Court concluded the hearing for the second consecutive day on Monday petitions filed by five detained convicts in Bangabandhu murder case seeking review of its judgment confirming their death sentence.
Abdur Razzak Khan, counsel for convict Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, placed his argument before the four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Md Tafazzul Islam.
The court adjourned the hearing till Tuesday morning.
On Sunday, two of the five killers of Bangabandhu — Bazlul Huda and AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed– appealed to the SC to commute their death penalty to any other punishment.
The SC bench adjourned the hearing on Sunday till Monday morning upon separate time prayers by the counsels of three other convicts on death row –Syed Farooq Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan and Mohiuddin Ahmed.
The SC confirmed death sentence of a dozen ex-army personnel including the five in prison in this case. Of the seven others, one died and six are on the run.
