900 to be charged for Pilkhana killings: IO

February 24, 2010

The CID’s probe into the Pilkhana killings during the BDR mutiny has neared completion and charges will be pressed “soon”, the investigation officer said on Wednesday.

CID’s Abdul Kahhar Akhand told a press briefing in Dhaka that around 900 BDR personnel were likely to be charged in the case that will be tried separately from the mutiny charges.

Rebel border guards on Feb 25-26 last year took up arms against their officers, killing nearly 60 and holding hundreds of families hostage during the two-day mutiny at the BDR’s Pilkhana headquarters in Dhaka.
