BNP man killed in clash with AL in Meherpur

A BNP leader was killed and 35 people injured during a clash with Awami League activists at Mailmary village in Gangni upazila on Meherpur district Saturday morning.
The dead was identified as Sentu, 30, son of Akkas Ali of Dhala village and BNP organising secretary of Shaharbati Union in Gangni upazila, reports our Meherpur correspondent.
Police said Jaffar, a local BNP leader, along labourers went for fishing at Mailmary Beel, which he took lease from the BNP-led government, and was resisted by local AL activists.
At one stage, both the group equipped with lethal and sharp weapons locked into the clash, leaving Sentu dead on the spot.
Of the injured, four were admitted to Meherpur General Hospital in critical condition and another to Gangni Upazila Health Complex.
