Two cases were filed against several hundreds of activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its associated student organisation Islami Chhatra Shibir following Saturday night’s clashes in Nilphamari.

Bangladesh Chhatra League vice-president of Nilphamari district unit Arif Hossain filed one of the cases with Sadar Police Station against 107 identified and over one hundred anonymous leaders and activists of Jamaat and Shibir, including the Jamaat district ameer.

Another case was filed by Moazzem Hossain, a sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station, against 250 people, including 25 by name.

Some 25 activists of Jamaat and Shibir were arrested so far after the clashes.

The clash ensued when Shibir attacked a protest procession of BCL in Ukilpara that left at least 60 people, including 30 BCL men, injured.
