No fertiliser crisis in boro season: Barua
February 7, 2010
Industries Minister Dilip Barua on Sunday said there will be no problem or crisis with the fertiliser this year for the first time in the country’s history.
“We have a stock of 17 lakh metric tons against the demand of 15 lakh tonnes,” Barua told reporters at his office.
He said monitoring of fertiliser distribution has also been strengthened involving both the ministries of agriculture and industry.
January to March is the peak season for boro cultivation. Farmers across the country face shortage of fertiliser every year during the boro season.
