BDR-BSF firm to stop ‘innocent’ killing
March 11, 2010
The Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday announced their resolve to prevent killings of innocent civilians along the border.
Terming the annual talks between the two border chiefs ‘extremely fruitful’, both BDR and BSF director generals said they would give top priority to avoid the killing of innocent people along the border.
In a joint press briefing at BSF headquarters, BDR DG Maj Gen Mainul Islam and his BSF counter part Raman Srivastava claimed that the annual talks between the two border guards were ‘extremely fruitful’, our New Delhi correspondent Pallab Bhattacharya reports.
The BDR and BSF also pointed out that the killing of innocent people along the border is a cause of tension between the two neighbouring countries.
The BDR and BSF discussed all issues including trans-border crimes like smuggling of phensydyl, illegal migration and movement of insurgents and criminals across the border, they told reporters during the briefing.
The director generals of two border guards asked their joint working group of land boundary to sort out the issues of adverse possessions of enclaves by India and Bangladesh.
