BIWTA starts eviction drive in N’ganj

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and Narayanganj district administration Tuesday morning began an eviction drive against encroachers of Shitalakhya, Buriganga and Balu rivers.
The operation started at about 11:00am with the demolition of Haque Cold Storage next to the Kanchpur Bridge in Sonargaon upazila in the district.
According to Revisional Survey (RS) records, the Narayanganj district administration identified 320 illegal structures for demolition within the three rivers’ areas. Of the total, there are 11 illegal structures in Sonargaon upazila.
