Parliament passes Tk 132,170cr budget

Parliament on Wednesday passed Tk 132,170 crore budget for 2010-11 fiscal in absence of the opposition.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith moved the Appropriations Bill seeking budgetary allocations of Tk 1998,73,65,38,000, which was passed by voice vote.

Earlier, the Parliament rejected by voice vote a total of 1131 cut motions that stood in the name of opposition and independent members on 53 demands for grants for different ministries.

Barring the cut motions moved by independent member Fazlul Azim, the other cut motions were not moved.

Fazlul Azim was allowed to move his cut motion only on Foreign Ministry, Home Ministry, and Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
