The Cabinet on Monday approved the long-expected Dhaka Elevated Expressway (DEE) route.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad informed this to reporters after a regular cabinet meeting held at the secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasian in the chair.
The Dhaka Elevated Expressway has been planned to improve road connectivity between the northern part of Dhaka City and the central, south and south eastern parts linking important commercial and business centers of the capital.
The route is Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport -Kuril-Banani-Mohakhali-Tejgaon-Satrasta-Moghbazar-Rail Corridor-Kamlapur-Khilgaon-Gopalganj-Dhaka-Chittagong highway (near Kutubkhali).
The estimated budget to implement the project is US$ 2 billion.
