Sayedee, Mir Kashem face arrest warrants

A Dhaka court on Thursday issued arrest warrants against Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee and party leader Mir Kashem Ali, hours after two separate tax evasion cases were filed against them.
Two Deputy Tax Commissioners of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) –Moniruzzaman and Masuma Khatun– filed the case with the Senior Special Judge’s Court, Dhaka against them for evading taxes.
Judge Ismail Hossain of the Senior Special Judge’s Court took the cases into cognisance and passed the arrest warrants against them.
Moniruzzaman filed the case against Mir Kashem for evading Tk 11,28,235 in fiscal 2005-2006 while Masuma filed the case against Sayedee for evading Tk 56,40,810 against the income of Tk 2,27,40,120 during the fiscal 2005-2006 and 2009-2010.
