Shaon sued for killing Ibrahim

A murder case was filed with a Dhaka court on Wednesday against several people, including Awami League lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon, in connection with the killing of party leader Ibrahim Ahmed.

The case was filed against eight people by name and eight to ten unknown people.

The names mentioned in the case are Shaon, his bodyguard Delwar Hossain, driver Kamal Hossain and one Mazharul Islam Mithu, Mizan, Jibon, Liton and Alam.

Mithu is the owner of the microbus that carried Ibrahim’s body to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Mizan is the driver of Mithu.

Masum Ahmed, younger brother of Ibrahim, filed the case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court, Dhaka.

The case statement said all the accused were involved in the preplanned murder of Ibrahim.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Shahadat Hossain took the case into cognisance and stayed the proceedings of the case till submission of the probe report of the unnatural death case filed earlier in connection with the killing.

The magistrate also asked the Detective Branch of police to submit a report on the investigation progress of the case.

Ibrahim, 38, an AL leader of Ward-56 of Dhaka City Corporation, was killed on August 14 when he was handling Shaon’s licensed gun and it went off, Shaon’s driver claimed earlier.

He was supposed to be a ward councillor candidate in the upcoming DCC elections.
