Govt sets Tk 193.95b aid target for next budget

The government has set a Tk 193.95 billion foreign aid target for the upcoming national budget aimed at executing different development works, especially increased investment in the power and energy sectors, officials said Wednesday.

Finance ministry officials said the expected foreign resource is Tk 18.65 billion higher than Tk 175.30 billion total aid targets in the current financial year’s budget.

The government will provide special incentives to exporters for diversifying their exportable products and exploring new markets abroad, Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman said Tuesday.

“We’ll give additional incentive to the exporters for diversifying their exports and exploring new destinations for exports,” the central bank chief said at a seminar on ‘Global Financial Meltdown and International Trade Finance’ at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM).

Knitwear expo begins tomorrow

The Fifth Bangladesh Knitwear Exhibition-09 begins tomorrow (Monday) in the city. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the show organised by Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA). Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Labour and Employment Minister Khondaker Musharraf Hossain, Commerce Minister Faruk Khan will also attend the inaugural function as special guests. There will be 68 stalls including two foreign pavilions in the three-day fair.
