WHEN the government envisages building a Digital Bangladesh, the news that computer studies at secondary and higher secondary levels are conducted without specialized teachers in the state-run educational institutions is indeed appalling. It is unbelievable that governments have not created any permanent post for teachers in this discipline at 570 schools and colleges since introducing the subject fifteen years ago. Classes are conducted by teachers of other subjects that too in makeshift arrangements.

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, DEC 28: A large number of teachers from different government and non-government schools, colleges and madrasas of the district formed a human chain in Chapainawabganj town and gave memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding complete execution of the national education policy declared by the government. Rural students rule 92.34pc pass in primary terminal exams

Class-V students outside the capital have beaten those in Dhaka in the primary education terminal examinations for the second year in a row.
Of the 57 students of the top-10 merit list, 51 are from outside Dhaka district, according to the results published yesterday. Students from Tangail dominated the merit list with 17 of them saw their names on it. Last year, nine out of the top 10 students were from outside Dhaka. Read more
