Include domestic work in labour law

Speaker at a discussion yesterday called on the government include the labour of domestic helps in the labour law to ensure their rights to health and basic education.

“Women are the main workers at the domestic labour and they have been working in vulnerable situation where they frequently violated with their employers,” said speakers at the discussion organised by ActionAid Bangladesh at Chhayanaut Auditorium in the city.

HC starts delivering judgment on Hasina Niko case plea

The High Court on Thursday started delivering judgment on a writ petition filed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for quashing proceedings against her in the Niko corruption case.

The HC bench of Justice Md Shamsul Huda and Justice Abu Bakar Siddiquee began delivering the verdict at about 12:30pm on the petition after concluding hearing on it.

Man remanded for bomb attack on Taposh

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed Sohel Rana on a 10-day remand in connection with the bomb attack on Awami League lawmaker Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh in October last year.

Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Zafar Mohammad Samsuzzaman passed the remand order after Assistant Commissioner Akbar Hossain of the Detective Branch produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday said the government is working to reach the health services to the doorsteps of all people across the country.

Meanwhile, 6.82 lakh people in 400 upazilas have received health services through the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust. People in rural areas are now getting health services sitting at their houses as per the pledges of the grand alliance government, she said.

Khagrachhari OC stand released

CID gets 3 months more for Aug 21 probe

The Criminal Investigation Department on Thursday got three more months to submit the probe report in one of the two August 21 grenade attack cases.

ANM Bashir Ullah of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Dhaka allowed the time after the investigation officer (IO) sought four more months to submit the report in the case filed under the Explosive Substances Act.
