Sit-in, rally demanding better railway service

A large number of people yesterday held sit-in and rally at the railway station in the town demanding better railway service.

Their seven-point demand included modernisation of railway infrastructure and introduction of inter-city train.

Hundreds of Jamaat, Shibir men sued for Nilphamari clashes

Two cases were filed against several hundreds of activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its associated student organisation Islami Chhatra Shibir following Saturday night’s clashes in Nilphamari.

Bangladesh Chhatra League vice-president of Nilphamari district unit Arif Hossain filed one of the cases with Sadar Police Station against 107 identified and over one hundred anonymous leaders and activists of Jamaat and Shibir, including the Jamaat district ameer.

Staff Reporter — Some of the garment factory owners have started to flee keeping the factories abandoned failing to pay wages and apprehending possible outburst on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr over payment of festival bonus.

Hameem Group garment factories burned down

Agitating garment workers today set a number of factories of Hameem Group on fire as the authorities barred workers from joining the protests against the deaths in Ashulia.

 

Workers from many garment factories took to the streets around seven o’clock in the morning for the third successive day but the workers of the factories owned by Hameem Group were not allowed to join the protests.
