SJIBL offshore banking unit opened at DEPZ

Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd (SJIBL) has begun ‘offshore banking’ at the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ). The Offshore Banking Unit (OBU) of the bank was inaugurated at the DEPZ on Sunday. SJIBL board of directors chairman Akkas Uddin Mollah inaugurated the unit as the chief guest.
DBBL opens 4th SME Service Centre at Raozan in Ctg

Dutch-BangIa Bank Limited has opened its 4th SME Service Centre at Raozan (Hazi Ahsan Mansion, Thana Road), Chittagong on December 21last. The opening ceremony started with a milad-mahfil seeking blessings of the Almighty Allah for successful operation of the SME Service Centre. This SME Service Centre has been linked with the bank’s on-line banking network to facilitate daynight 24 hours banking services to the clients from the very beginning of the day.
56th meeting of SBL EC held

IBBL opens SME service centres

Two more S.M.E. Service Centres of Islami Bank Bangladsesh Limited were inaugurated on 14 December Sunday at Charmuguria of Madaripur and Mahasthangar of Bogra. Shashi Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Madaripur inaugurated the Sixth S.M.E. Service Centre of the Bank at Charmuguria of Madaripur. Presided over by Kazi Harun-arRashed, Chairman, Audit Committee of the Bank Devdas Bhattacharya, Police Super of Madaripur and Chowdhury Nurul Alam Babu attended the inaugural funcrion of the S.M.E. Service Centre as the Special Guest.

Pubali Bank holds seminar on ‘Manager and His Job’

A seminar titled ‘Manager and His Job’ for branch managers and senior executives was held at Pubali Bank Head Office organised by Pubali Bank Training Institute recently. Managing Director of Pubali Bank Ltd Helal Ahmed Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the seminar. In his speech, Helal Ahmed Chowdhury urged the managers to be logical, flexible and open minded. He said that one could prove himself or herself as a good manager by overcoming the limitations and manage everything in all situations properly.
DBBL opens its SME service centre in Sylhet

Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) has opened its first small and medium enterprise (SME) Service Centre at Dhaka Dashkin, Golapganj, Sylhet. In this connection, an inaugural function was organised on the centre premises. Managing Director of the bank Md Yeasin Ali inaugurated the centre recently, said a press release. Like all branches of the bank, the centre also provides on-line banking facilities to its clients from the opening day.
Controlling food allergy

A food allergy is an immune system response. It occurs when the body mistakes an ingredient in food — usually a protein — as harmful and creates a defense system (antibodies) to fight it. Allergy symptoms develop when the antibodies are battling the “invading” food. The most common food allergies are peanuts, tree nuts (such as walnuts, pecans and almonds), fish, and shellfish, milk, eggs, soy products, and wheat.

WB launches $2bn fast-track facility for world’s poorest countries

The World Bank Group has announced the creation of a $2 billion fast-track facility to speed up grants and long-term, interest-free loans to help the world’s poorest countries to cope with the impact of the global financial crisis. The International Development Association (IDA) Financial Crisis Response Fast-Track Facility, approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors in Washington on Tuesday, will allow the Bank Group to provide rapid funding for social safety nets, infrastructure, education, and health.
