Small problems to work on
March 6, 2010
Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh captain, identified bowling in the Powerplay overs as one weak point that they needed to work on in order to win matches against bigger nations in one-day cricket.
Shakib’s boys conceded 107 runs in the last ten overs, 55 of them coming in the batting Powerplay, during the third and final ODI of the Beximco Series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here yesterday. That leaking of runs proved too costly in the end as they lost the match by 45 runs to give the visitors a 3-0 wrap.

March 2, 2010
The 22-year-old had a wretched time in the first one-dayer against England on Sunday, missing a straight caught-behind and a stumping chance at crucial times.

Tigers fall but Shakib stands tall
February 20, 2010
Shakib Al Hasan took all the limelight with a brilliant maiden hundred on the fifth day of the Hamilton Test against New Zealand, yet could not help his side avoid a 121-run defeat though went some way to restoring some pride for the Tigers. Shakib, who saw off 25 balls previous evening to remain not out on nought, took the attack to the New Zealand bowlers right from the word go on the fifth day. The Bangladesh skipper batted with disdain and played exquisite shots all around the park to bring up his 100 in 129 balls that included three sixes and fifteen boundaries. He got good company from Mushfiqur Rahim and in-form Mahmudullah, but was ultimately left with just the company of the tail as he attempted to pull off an unlikely victory. But it was not to be for Bangladesh.
Tigers put up a spirited show

Mahmudullah Riyad’s maiden hundred and skipper Shakib Al Hasan’s 87-run knock helped Tigers stage one of their best performances in Test cricket abroad. The Tigers put on a 408-run first innings total in their first innings in reply to New Zealand’s mammoth 553 for 7 declared and then got the opposition one down for 9 runs in their second to trail by 154 runs going into the fourth day at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
NZ mend early damage
February 16, 2010
An unbroken 100-run partnership between Martin Guptill and Brendon McCullum helped New Zealand stage a comeback on the first day in the one off Test at Seddon Park. The pair combined with the home side struggling at 158 for 5, but batted with assurance till stumps to rescue them from a dodgy position.
No deal for Zoran
February 14, 2010
The regime of Serbian football coach Zoran Djordjevic has came into an early end as the Bangladesh Football Federation refused to make a new four-year contract with the successful Serbian coach citing lack of money.
Over the last three days, the football governing body had been struggling to retain the service of the Serbian coach as well as waiting for president Kazi Salahuddin for the final decision on Zoran, who had demanded a long-term contract upto 2014 after guiding Bangladesh to emerge as unbeaten champions in the football event of the just concluded South Asian Games on home soil.
